Like every bureaucracy, the Third Reich relied on paper correspondence to get things done. Just as business does today, the various party leaders and Hitler used letterhead to indicate not only who was sending the correspondence, but where and from which office the correspondence originated. Hitler, over the years, used a variety of differing titles, depending on whether he was writing as the head of the NSDAP, or as the Reichskanzler (State chancellor), or as the Führer (leader).
The following are examples of stationery found strewn -- or in some cases, still neatly stacked in piles -- in the bunkers below the Platterhof Hotel in Obersalzberg, Bavaria.
The numbers correspond to the numbers in the book Treasure Trove: The Looting of the Third Reich as seen on pages 143-148.

Dr. Hugo Jury was a medical doctor with strong ties to the NSDAP. On May 21, 1938 he was appointment as the Gauleiter of Niederdonau with his seat in Vienna, Austria. He was a member of the SS starting in 1938. He was appointed Reichsstatthalter on March 15, 1940. His last promotion was in 1943. He shot himself the day Germany surrendered to avoid capture and trial on May 9, 1945. The design incorporates the map of his district over a large swastika, his initials HJ, the date 1938 and name of the district. Two long body gau eagles with broken chains and charges of evergreen, wheat sheaves, oak leaves and acorns, and grapes complete this complex engraving. It measures 13.1cm by 15.3cm. Calling cards are ubiquitous in today's businesses, they are a convenience used to recall meetings, names, places, and frequently used to make notes of important facts.
The calling cards of the Third Reich are, by comparison to today's standards, simple to the extreme. Usually, just a name; occasionally, a title. The cards below were looted from the huge bunker complex below the Obersalzberg, in Bavaria, just above the Austrian border. This was the mountain site of the summer homes of Hitler, Braun, Göring, Bormann, Himmler, Speer, and other high NSDAP party leaders.
Most are in mint, unused condition. Some show signs of more than 50 years of exposure to air; however, as many were simply stacked and forgotten in amongst the silver and other treasure, they remain as they were in the glory days of the most evil of empires: Hitler's Third Reich.
