Military ID Bracelets and Fobs


Military bracelets are shown in roughly chronological order (from WWI to the interwar years, to WWII).  Both ID bracelets and sweetheart bracelets are shown together in this section.  The individual descriptions should make it obvious if it is an ID or a sweetheart.  Typically, bracelets measuring 6 to 6-1/2 inches are for women, and larger sizes for men.


MG Joseph Swing CG 11th Airborne Division Military ID Bracelet


This is a military heavy STERLING silver ID bracelet presented to Major Joseph Swing, Commanding General 11th Airborne Division by members of his command staff on Christmas Day, 1945.  At the time, the 11th A/B was the occupation force of most of Japan.

The bracelet has an applied paratrooper wing with a separately applied 11th Airborne Division distinctive unit insignia device on the risers.

There is some significant, but moderate, signs of long wear and deep tarnish from age.  The back of the ID has the engraved inscription "To The General from His Troops Japan 25th Dec. 1945" in three lines.  It is stamped STERLING.  Both claws of the clasp are also stamped STERLING.  It measures 8 inches long overall.  There is a split ring fastener that would break if caught or tangled during a jump.

This shows Kilroy holding his nose with his other arm up in the air. On the back is a small screw that when tightened affixes it to the opening of a pocket.

WWI Air Service Signet and Seal Chained Fob
This is a World War I era mesh style signet fob and chain featuring a suspension for a wax seal.

This 4 inch fob has an attached 2 inch brass signet lozenge and seal pendant with a 6 inch chain and catch.  Neither the lozenge nor the seal are engraved.

WWI 130th Inf Rgt Military ID Bracelet
This is a World War I military identification  bracelet named to a member of the 130th Infantry Regiment.

This bracelet was made from a piece of artillery shell brass, with the engraved ID information hand chased with a sharp tool.  The serial number, name Sgt. C.E. Bohnstedt, and unit CoY L, 130th Inf. U.S.A. 

The 130th IR was assigned to the 65th Infantry Brigade of the 33rd Division.  They fought in France in WWI at Amiens and Verdun sectors and participated in the St. Mihiel and Meusse-Argonne offensives.  This unit is still active and currently deployed in Iraq.

WWI US Air Service Military ID Bracelet
This is a World War I military identification  bracelet named to a pilot of the US Army Air Service AEF.

This bracelet was made from a 1918 French 2 Franc silver coin, with the engraved ID information hand chased with a sharp tool.  The name Sgt. Ralph Phelps, an officer's pilot's Army Air Service wing, and AIR SERVICE A.E.F. is very neatly engraved on the polished face of the coin. 

The bracelet has the devices of an ivory elephant, a Croix de Guerre miniature medal, a British brass Farthing coin dated 1918, a very nicely rendered Cross of Lorraine, the engraved coin disk, a good luck charm with a "13" trapped inside a horseshoe and four leaf clover, a sphinx, a German Garde helmet miniature with separately applied brass chin scales and Imperial emblem, and an Egyptian enameled phoenix bird.

WWI Canadian Forces Air Service Military ID Bracelet
This is a World War I military identification  bracelet named to a pilot of the Canadian Forces.

This bracelet was made from STERLING silver.  The name ROBERT C. MORLEY is very neatly block engraved on the upper banner of the oval disk, with an officer's pilot's CF Air Service wing. 

The bracelet has only on half of the chain present.

This is a World War I military identification  bracelet named to an officer of the CARC Coast Artillery Reserve Corps.

This bracelet was made from coin silver.  The name Lieut. T. J. McGuire is very neatly block engraved on the upper face of the oval disk, with the CARC USA unit designation.

This is a Post World War I military identification bracelet.

This bracelet appears to be made from coin silver.  The old style winged prop is separately applied on the face.  The name "THOMAS S. VINING" is block letter engraved on the face above the wing prop emblem.

US Civil Air Patrol Coastal Air Patrol Service Military ID Bracelet
This is an early World War II Coastal Air Patrol IDed military identification bracelet without chains.

This bracelet is stamped STERLING silver.  The old style winged prop is separately applied on the face.  The name "DONALD A. KRUPP" and number "3-1-3475" is block letter engraved on the back. The early war wing prop emblem is on the front.

The Coastal Air Patrol was a branch of the Civil Air Patrol that used civilians and their planes for anti-submarine operations in the early days of the war until the military could take over the task with combat aircraft.  This is a fairly scarce CAP artifact.

The condition is generally near excellent with deep tarnish from age, as shown.  The bracelet measures 1-3/4 inches overall.

This bracelet is heavy gold plated silver, most probably in England.  The old style winged prop and the separately applied U.S. Naval Officer device are prominently featured on the face.

This is a World War II military identification  bracelet named to Jimmie and Lloyd with an I LOVE YOU sweetheart sentiment on the back.

This bracelet was made from coin silver.  The names JIMMIE and LLOYD very neatly block engraved on the upper face of the enameled face of the bracelet, with the CBI theater and US Army unit designations, and black banner borders with BURMA CHINA and the date 1944.  Note the variant of the CBI shield has the INDIA black banner as part of the design.

This is a World War II CBI  bracelet with interesting enamel CBI shield, US flag, and USA above the letters CBI.

This bracelet was made from coin silver. There is a SILVER content mark stamped on the back.

WWII US Army Air Force STERLING Military Sweetheart Bracelet
This is a World War II military sweetheart charm bracelet is not named. It has two USAAF WWII distinctive insignia and two winged propeller branch insignia, and a central ID disk that has never been engraved.

This bracelet was made from STERING silver.  The slightly vaulted enameled DIs have raised STERLING content marks as do the two winged props.

This is 1920s Gangster Era stickpin once belonging to Al Capone.

This is a view of the back. It measures 2-5/8 inches long 14K gold and three diamond pin. The three diamonds are approximately two five-point and one 10-point.

It has a simple stick pin fastener. There are no maker or gold content marks. It tests 14K gold.

This is a most unusual and scarce pin.

1920 Military Occupation Era Joan of Arc Religious Pendant Medal
This is very early Pre-WWII Sainte Jeanne d'Arc P.P.N (Pray For Us) French made religious medallion.

Joan of Arc is the Patron Saint of Soldiers and France.

This medal was struck in 1920 in her birth town of Domremy. Below her bust are her birth and death dates: 1412 1431 and the date the medal was struck 1920.

This is a view of the back with the words MAISON DE JEANNE D'ARC and DOMREMY below the image of her house. The maker (or artist's) mark is JB. The medal measures 3mm and has 11.5 grams of coin silver.

It has a simple jump loop fastener.

This is an unusual and scarce medal, and would be an interesting gift for a military member.

1928 Pattern Pittsburgh City Coat of Arms Ring
This is an early to mid-20th century ring.

The blazon: "On a field Sable, PITTSBURGH (in lieu of a fess chequay Argent et Azure), between three bezants bearing eagles rising with wings displayed and inverted Or. For crest, Sable a triple-towered castle masoned Argent." It is a variation of the arms of William Pitt, Earl of Chatham. Note the windows on the face of the castle flanking the door, a vestige of the 1874 pattern.

1912 International Congress of Applied Chemistry Pendant Medal
This is very early Pre-WWI Applied Chemistry Pendant Suspension in red, white and blue enamel on gilded brass pin.

This medal was struck in 1912 as a suspension for an award presented by the Eighth International Congress of Applied Chemistry held September 4-13, 1912 in New York and Washington.

This is a view of the back showing the hinged safety rotor pin and catch with a spring pin to hold a ribbon.

This is an unusual and scarce medal, and would be an interesting gift for a science historian.

1920s Atlas Life Insurance Company Tulsa Oklahoma Fob
This is very early Pre-WWII Silver Plated Brass Fob.

This medal was struck in 1920s about the time the Atlas Life building was erected (1922).

This is a view of the back showing the GREENDUCK CO. CHICAGO maker mark.

This is an unusual high quality medal, and would be an interesting gift for a Tulsa historian.

The condition is tarnished with wear apparent to the original silver plate, still near excellent.

WWI USMC Military China Marine EGA Sweetheart Pin
This is very early Pre-WWI United States Marine Corps sweetheart pin.

Note the reverse orientation of the unfouled anchor and high shoulder (above the head) eagle on this nicely defined Eagle Globe and Anchor stickpin.  This pin most likely predates the beginning of WWI, probably the Chinese Boxer Rebellion era.

This is an overall view of the front and the back. The EGA measures 21 by 21mm.  It is 80mm overall (about 3-1/4 inches). There are no maker or content marks.

It has a simple stick pin fastener.

This is a most unusual and scarce pin.

1914-15 German One Mark Silver Sweetheart Earring Set
This is a WWI matched pair of silver 1 mark coin sweetheart clip-on earrings.

This pin dates to the beginning years of WWI, one dated 1914, the other 1915. Each has a RB 835 maker and silver content marks on the clips.  Each earring shows the Imperial German eagle (obverse) face of the coin.

This is a view of the back. Each measures 24mm.

Each has a loop clip fastener.

This is a WWI US military aviator branch wing prop sweetheart pin.

Note there are a number of hand cut crystals (mine-cut). They may be Austrian crystals or white paste stones.  Eight remain, the rest are missing.  This pin most likely dates to the end of WWI. It is content marked STERLING and has a TRI-ART (probably British) maker mark.

This is a view of the back. It measures 51 by 32mm.

It has a safety catch pin fastener.

This is a WWI US Navy Officer military sweetheart pin.

Note there are 13 hand cut crystals (mine-cut). They may be Austrian crystals or white paste stones. All are present.  This pin most likely dates to the end of WWI. It is content marked STERLING and has no maker mark. The shield is red, white and blue enamel.

This is a view of the back. It measures 28 by 30mm.

WWI US Navy CPO Military Sweetheart Pin
This is a WWI US Navy Chief Petty Officer military sweetheart pin.

Note there are 13 hand cut crystals (mine-cut). They may be Austrian crystals or white paste stones. All are present.  This pin most likely dates to the end of WWI. It is not content marked, however it is probably STERLING. It has no maker mark. The silver anchor is fouled with a separately applied twisted ribbon rope and separately applied individual letters U S N.

This is a view of the back. It measures 27 by 44mm.

It has a simple hook catch pin fastener, however, the pin is missing (easily replaceable by a competent jeweler).

The condition is near excellent, excepting some slight tarnish to the gilt and missing pin as described and as shown.

This is a post-WWI US Army Air Corps Pilot Officer military sweetheart scarf pin.

Note the 1920s style upswept wing prop, with meatball star emblem.  This pin most likely dates to the early 1930s. It is not content marked, however it is probably gilded STERLING. It has no maker mark. The device is separately applied to a simple spring pin closure..

1930s Royal Canadian Air Force Pilot Military Sweetheart Pin
This is a pre-WWII RCAF Pilot Officer military sweetheart scarf pin.

Note the mid 1920s to late 1920s style RCAF emblem with King's Crown surmount, high shoulder wings, no motto, and the "C" surrounding the A in RAF in blue enamel.  This pin most likely dates to the late 1920s. It is content marked STERLING. It has a "BIRKS" maker mark. The device is separately applied to the wing and has a simple hook and pin closure. The wings are nicely vaulted and recurved.

This is a view of the back. It measures 14 by 40mm.

It has a drop-in rotor safety catch pin fastener.

The condition is near very good, with some wear to the red  enamel of the King's Crown surmount, and deep tarnish to the silver, as shown.

This is a WWII Sweetheart Paratroopers Bracelet

This is a 6 inch long marked sterling bracelet with 9 paratrooper badges linked together.  It belonged to an airborne Officer's wife, who was assigned to the 506 Paratrooper Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Infantry Division.

 It measures 2-5/8 inches across.  There is a close-up.

There is a stamped STERLING silver content marks on the back.

This is a WWII First Special Service Force Kiska Task Force Alaska Sweetheart Pin and Enlisted Collar Disk.

The painted MOP heart-shaped locket has Alaska and wild flowers painted on the face. It is suspended by a script Sweetheart pin with hinged pin closure.

This is a view of the back. It measures 1-1/4 inches across, with the hinged dual cavity photo locket measures 1 inch across.

The collar disk is brass with the thin crossed Special Forces arrows.

The ring is enclosed in a Paul D. Harbach Jeweler and Diamond Merchant Reading Pennsylvania pale green crushed velvet box.

Post-WWII Era (1946-Present)

The NASA pins shown below are from the estate of Lieutenant Colonel Walter Raymond Brown, a communications engineer who worked for NBC before WWII, was the OIC of the sound recording team at the German Surrender during the war, and an employee of RCA contracted to NASA during the Project Mercury years of the first manned orbital years. This is very early NASA Mercury Astronaut program military aviator sweetheart pin commemorating the first US orbital flight by John Glenn on February 20, 1962.

Note the interesting variant of the Friendship 7 logo, with the Mercury capsule on its first orbit over Cape Canaveral.

This is very early NASA Mercury Astronaut program military contractor engineer first US orbital flight by John Glenn on February 20, 1962.

Note the interesting variant of the Mercury symbol, with the Earth and orbit shown inside the top loop (blank on the astrological symbol).

This is a view of the back. It measures 10 by 20mm and has an attached spring clip (like a tie tack) on the clutch pin back.

There are no maker or content marks on the device. It appears to be heavy rolled gold plate.

New York Yankees Citibank Sponsor Ring
This is destined to be a limited production -- and no doubt collectible -- New York Yankees ring, as the sponsor is Citibank, a company either in financial reorganization or absorbed during the recession of 2009.

This is a view of the back. It measures a size 8.

The team name and blue enamel surrounding the entwined NY is on the face. There is a raised Yankees logo on the right side and the Citibank name and logo on the left. There are no apparent content marks on the ring.

The ring is probably a safer investment than Citibank stock at the time this item was listed.
