An Original and Authentic World War I German Flying Ace Manfred von Richthofen -- the Red Baron -- 10 Year Bronze KIA Plaque

This is an extremely rare bronze plaque commemorating the 10th year following the death in combat of the most famous ace of WWI. He was killed in aerial combat on 21 April 1918, with a record of 80 air victories.

This plaque is dated 1928, and it has the initials of the artist "FW" between the 19 and 28 of the date. There is a foundry mark "PH" in a triangle on the back. The plaque depicts the baron in his crushed hat, high collar flight jacket, and wearing the Pour Le Merite medal. Above his head is a stylized representation of a German fighter plane.

This plaque was specially commissioned by the family to memorialize his death. A very limited number were struck.

It measures 7 by 4-1/2 inches, and it has very high relief, especially noticeable from the back.

This is an early 20th Century Imperial German Crown Prince Rupert of Bavaria Sugar Bowl.

His full (English) title was HRH Rupprecht Maria Luitpold Ferdinand, Crown Prince of Bavaria, Duke of Bavaria, Franken and Swabia, Count Palatine of the Rhine.  In German it was Kronprinz Rupprecht von Bayern. He passed away in 1955, the last Crown Prince of Bavaria.

It has the imperial crown over the script letter "R" engraved monogram.

This is a very heavy silver plated covered sugar bowl. It has an impressed BERNDORF maker mark with ALPACCA silver content and 15 cl capacity on the bottom.

Here are views of the back and top with the cover removed.

The base measures 4-3/4 inches across the handles and 3-1/4 inches in diameter at the base. The overall height is 2 inches with the over on.

The condition is very good to near excellent, with some signs of freckles on the silver and heavy tarnish from age, as shown.

It has a complex knight and ducal engraved Coat Of Arms.

It has a winged wheel maker mark and 800 and crescent moon and crown silver content mark.

60th Regiment to Reservist Rommel Stein

It has the seated soldier with his rifle and grenade on the top of the lid.  The head is still present but the spike on the helmet is absent. 

There are a number of scenes of the infantry in action.  The front shows a guard by the multi-colored guard shack.

Kaiser II Regimental Lithopane Stein

There is a short roster of the Reservists (35 names) with Kaiser 2 named in the list.

It has the cavalry horse with mounted rider on the top of the lid. The head is still present, but has a minor bend at the neck.  There is a rampant lion lifter (Bavaria). The lid is shown from the left, center (raised) and right sides.

The lithopane scene is the upper profile (waist up) of a cavalry trooper facing his woman, holding hands, also in profile.  

There are a number of scenes of the cavalry in action.  The front shows the Kaiser wearing a number of neck and sash orders and a number of medals on his high neck uniform above his name.

It is in near excellent condition.

It measures 12-1/2 inches high with a 4-5/8 inch base, as shown.

An Original and Authentic Pre-World War I Imperial German Regimental Service Stein

This is a large and ornate painted panels and detailed embellishments and slogans. It is named to a German reserve officer Rammel of the 12th Company Fusiliers of the 60th Infantry Regiment. identified here.

An Original and Authentic Pre-World War I Imperial German Shooting Championship 1909 Stein

This is a large and ornate pewter stein with hunting and marksmanship and drinking celebration panels with detailed embellishments and cryptic initials and slogans. It is named to a German J. Sosman, Vorstand.

This is a large and ornate hand painted porcelain pipe bowl with the name Von Buckholt.

This is a large and ornate silver goblet, with grapes and leaves detailed embellishments. It is named to a German naval aviator Lt. zS. Schmidt. The date of the victory is 12.7.17 (12 July 1917). The front indicates it is for an aerial combat victory.

It measures 8-1/2 inches high by 3-3/4 inches wide at the mouth, and it has very high relief throughout. Here is a view of the back side.

An Original and Authentic World War I German Enlisted Aviator Named Air Combat Victory Honor Cup

This is a large and ornate silver goblet, with fluted and flared detailed embellishments. It is named to a German naval aviator Vizefeldwebel. Rosenfeld. This was Otto Rosenfeld's victory over a Sopwith Pup, his third of an eventual total of 13 before he was captured by the Allies.  This victory was over Etaine, France at 2050 on May 26, 1917 while Rosenfeld was assigned to Jasta 12.The reverse side has an engraved scrolled panel indicating the honor award.

It measures 12 inches high by 5 inches wide at the mouth, and it has very high relief throughout. Here is a view of the back side of the goblet. It is silver content marked "800" and maker marked "M".

An Original and Authentic World War I German Enlisted Aviator Named Air Combat Victory Honor Cup

This is a large and ornate silver goblet, with fluted and flared detailed embellishments. It is named to a German naval aviator Vizefeldwebel. Rosenfeld. It measures 31mm square. It is die struck and lead filled (to prevent crushing the high vaulted thin metal, and retain the pins) There are no maker or content marks.

This is an interesting variation, the most significant distinction being the larger more stylish bow at the bottom (making the badge longer) and the size and scale of the buildings and mountain background.

This medal was recovered by a GI from the burnt ruins of the Reichskanzlei in Berlin following the end of the war. The size is 57mm (2-1/4 inches).

The condition is RELIC, burnt and damaged, as shown. Traces of the original enamel and devices remain. The pin melted off.

This black and red/orange enamel on gilded brass medal is from the American Deutsche Kriegs Verein, an 1880s society for German war veterans living in America.  There were several thousand members in approximately 350 chapters, mostly in the urban areas. This is a fairly scarce medal, as the society fell into disfavor in the 1910s before and during WWI.

The size is 40mm (1-5/8 inches). It is plain on the back side, with no maker marks or identification.

The condition is near very good, as shown. There is some wear to the enamel finish, evident in the images.

Major Ludwig Adolf Wilhelm von Freiherr (1782-1834) was the founder of renowned corps of volunteers "Schwarze Schar" during the war of liberation in 1813.

The size is 34mm by 46mm (1-3/8 inches by 1-7/8). The ribbon shows some wear and tear from age.

The condition is near very good, as shown. There is minor wear to the silver, evident in the images.

This medal was the Hessian equivalent of the Iron Cross, and only awarded to soldiers that were citizens. Approximately 150,000 were estimated to have been awarded.

The size is 33mm (1-3/8 inches). The ribbon is purple as it came to us. The correct ribbon should be orange and white. The medal shows minor wear and heavy tarnish from age.

World War I Weimar Veteran War Service 1914-1918 With Swords Medal

This is the Weimar German medal for the Kyffhauserbund veteran's association for WWI soldiers. The bronze medal measures 1-7/8 inches high and 1-1/4 inches wide.

The condition is fair to near good, with deep tarnish from age, and wear to the ribbon and swords device, as shown. There is some, evident in the images.

This is a an early pre-WWII medal identified to Prussia for long service to the fire department. The obverse is enameled black, with fire helmet, and crossed axes in an oak leaf wreath. The reverse indicates it is for service in Prussia home defense fire brigade.

The size is 35mm by 32mm (1-3/4 inches by 1-1/2). There is no ribbon.

The condition is near excellent, as shown. This is a heavy silver plate on copper medal. There is some wear to the silver, exposing some copper at some of the high points, evident in the images.

This is an outstanding early sharpshooter's medal, exquisitely crafted. It will be a commanding centerpiece of any advanced shooting medal collection.

The condition is near excellent throughout. The medallion proper measure 1-3/4 by 2 inches high. The suspension is a simple textured split ring.

The back shows holes from the hollow construction.

This is a heavy silver mounted leather fob. There are a number of maker and content marks on the silver pieces, including an King's head, a script "R", a "3", and "875" silver content marks. The bottom shield is engraved with the intertwined letters "EK"

The size is approximately 6 inches high by 1-1/2 inches wide.

The condition is used, with some deep tarnish from age. The leather is a little dry.

World War I PRINZEN 1914 Iron Cross Second Class Made into a fob.

This is a period made fob for a veteran of WWI. It is "M1" maker marked on the ring, just visible at the 2 o'clock position of the front view at the left.

 The size is lightly smaller than the 2nd class version. The condition is used, with some deep tarnish from age. The iron core shows significant rust. The back is visible here.

This is a very heavy bronze on cast metal bust of a German Army soldier in an M1917 helmet. It has a raised artist or maker mark on the back.

Here are views of the right and left sides. This is a very finely detailed rendition.

The base measures 4-1/4 inches long and 4-1/4 inches wide. The overall height is 12 inches. It measures 5-1/2 inches across the shoulders at the widest point.

The condition is very good to near excellent, with some signs of freckles on the bronze and heavy tarnish from age, as shown.
