This is a near relic condition helmet. It was painted black with white painted SS sigrunes on both sides. The left side and right side markings are shown in close-up.

There are no stampings or maker marks visible. The helmet has a rolled edge. There is a primitive tan buckled chin strap present.

The insignia is painted. It appears to be Dutch-made (dark orange and sky blue) as opposed to the German-made (dark red and royal blue) colors.

There are no maker marks present.  It is about a size 58.

The helmet has 95% paint and 98% decals remaining.  This is one of the thousands of helmets left in Finland by the German Army at the close WWII.  Jim Atwood heard of this huge find, went to Finland, bought them all and brought them back to the USA.  I had bought several thousand of these in the 1970's.  This is one of those.  Here more views  1   2    

The helmet shell is painted black with an aluminum comb attached.  The helmet insignia has a crown atop a shield with an Eagle Mounted Rider and Angel.  The helmet interior has been painted green with a proper leather liner and partial strap.

Conditional overall is excellent.  Here are additional views  1  2.

The helmet is identified to Josef Rohringer, a member of Kalladorf No. 12, as shown by a handstamp on the liner suspension leather. Apparently, Rohringer is still alive and living in Austria, having celebrated his 80th birthday in 2007. Kalladorf is a border town in Austria directly north of Vienna on the main road north to the Czechoslovakia border.

The gray paint is in fair to near good overall condition, showing some significant wear from field use. The decals under the paint are in very good condition, as shown. The police decal is silver on black.

This is the July 1934 regulation version with the slanted national emblem on the left side of the helmet. This variant was only in use for a very limited period of time in 1934 and 1935.

This is a nice example of this type of helmet. It has gloss black paint. It has both decals in near excellent condition. The paint shows some minor to moderate wear, as shown.

This is a nice example of this type of helmet. It is a heavy weight aircraft aluminum, as shown.

Here is an image of the front emblem, the left side, the right side and the inside. There is a green wool felt liner and leather suspension present. There is a portion of one of the chin straps present. The aluminum comb is a six-legged reinforcement held with heavy rivets, as shown.

There are no apparent maker marks or stamps.

The condition is generally very good to near excellent, with signs of moderate to minor wear from routine use.

This is a superior example of this helmet. It has the heavily padded brown leather cover and comb complete and intact.  This helmet was used for a very short period of time, from 8 May 1941 and withdrawn from service on 26 May 1941.

The chin strap is present, intact and remains supple and soft.  All the wiring is intact and present and appears functional. It has not been electrically tested and it is sold as-is.

The condition is near excellent throughout. There are some minor spots, bumps, and minor wear to the leather present.

This is a nice example of this type of helmet. It has matte blue-black paint, with NO decals on the front or sides.

The liner is in fair to good condition, with a marked size 54 and luftschutz service factory markings on the inside of the skirt. It is 1938 dated with RL2-38/28 stamped marks.  The factory decal shows very little wear. These are views of the left and right sides, and back of the helmet.

World War I WWI Spiked Helmet Pickelhaube Match Set German Civil Officer Chin Scales

This is a a fairly hard to find set of chin scales.

The condition is very good to near excellent, with some very slight signs of damage to the leather on the back of the scale with the button, and light to moderate tarnish from age.

World War I WWI Spiked Helmet Pickelhaube Single German Officer Chin Scale

This is a a fairly hard to find single chin scale. It has damage to the leather and deep tarnish to the brass scales, however, it would be great for parting out to repair damaged scales or as a replacement for a missing strap. This is from the side without the buckle.

The condition is near good, with some signs of damage, and heavy tarnish from age, and significant wear to the gilt finish, as shown.

There is a Heister and Müller maker mark.  The skirt is stamped 4055 on the inside of the back and on the inside of the left side of the helmet with an ET 71 number, both strikes strong and easy to read.  These are views of the helmet from the front and back, showing the paint and suspension screws.

The decals are remarkably intact.  This is the tricolor and this is the luftwaffe eagle.
