German Helmets

This is an exceptional helmet, in mint unissued condition. All of the markings are strong and clear, the decal is complete and intact, and the liner and strap show virtually no signs of wear or field use.

The leather liner is complete and intact, and shows no signs of wear. It is marked Size 55.  The chin strap is 1941 dated and maker marked Hans Römer Neu-Ulm, also complete and intact.  .

The dark green paint is in near excellent condition throughout, shown taken without a flash in natural light here. The decal is in near excellent condition, as shown here. This is a view from the front and one from the back.

There are stampings on the back are "1170" and "SE62" stamped into the metal on the right side, as shown.

This is a very rare and hard to find helmet in this condition.

The leather liner is present, and shows very minor signs of wear from service use. It is marked with a stamped "56" size. The chin strap is NOT present as shown here.

The black paint is in generally good condition, with spotting and some rust chipping primarily on the top. The decal is in very goot to near excellent condition, as shown here. This is a view from the front and one from the back.

There are stampings on the back are "1530" and "CT64" on the side stamped into the metal, as shown.

This is a scarce and hard to find helmet.

This is a relic helmet, at one time painted in white snow camouflage. The inside is painted gray, as shown here.

There are stampings on the back are virtually unreadable. Only faint impressions remain.

This helmet is in sound metal condition, with some minor pitting, There are no hardware or liner parts present.

This is a hard to find helmet in any condition.

This is a near relic condition helmet. It was painted black with white painted SS sigrunes on both sides. The left side and right side markings are shown in close-up.

The black paint is in worn condition. There are several cracks in the metal, apparent in the side views at the left and the front and rear views. The front inside view is shown here, and an overall view of the inside here.

The insignia is painted. It appears to be Dutch-made (dark orange and sky blue) as opposed to the German-made (dark red and royal blue) colors.

This is a close-up of the BXF and Carl Henkel leather liner maker marks present.  It is a marked size 58.

The leather liner is present, but the draw string is missing. It shows moderate to heavy signs of wear from service use. The chin strap is NOT present as shown in the view of the inside.

The black paint is in fair to near good overall condition, showing some significant wear from field use. The decals are in very good to near excellent condition, as shown. The police decal is golden indicating German Water Police.

There are no maker marks present.  It is about a size 58.

The helmet is identified to Josef Rohringer, a member of Kalladorf No. 12, as shown by a handstamp on the liner suspension leather. Apparently, Rohringer is still alive and living in Austria, having celebrated his 80th birthday in 2007. Kalladorf is a border town in Austria directly north of Vienna on the main road north to the Czechoslovakia border.

This is a close-up of the KALLADORF Austria enameled emblem applied to the front.  There is some damage to the enamel, apparent in the image. The leather liner is present with size 55 marking.  The head pad is Robert Lubstein maker marked. 

The gray paint is in fair to near good overall condition, showing some significant wear from field use. The decals under the paint are in very good condition, as shown. The police decal is silver on black.

This is the July 1934 regulation version with the slanted national emblem on the left side of the helmet. This variant was only in use for a very limited period of time in 1934 and 1935.

The leather liner is present, and shows signs of wear from service use. There is some slight damage to one of the ears. The chin strap is present as shown in the view of the inside.

The black paint is in near good overall condition, with a number routine scratches and wear from field use. The decals are in near very good condition, as shown (left decal) and the (right decal). The comb is NOT present.

This is a nice example of this type of helmet. It has gloss black paint. It has both decals in near excellent condition. The paint shows some minor to moderate wear, as shown.

Here is an image of the front, the back and the inside. There is a liner present, however the cord is missing. There are no straps present. The aluminum comb is NOT present.

The condition is generally very good to near excellent, with signs of moderate to light wear from routine use.

This is a nice example of this type of helmet. It is a heavy weight aircraft aluminum, as shown.

Here is an image of the front emblem, the left side, the right side and the inside. There is a green wool felt liner and leather suspension present. There is a portion of one of the chin straps present. The aluminum comb is a six-legged reinforcement held with heavy rivets, as shown.

There are no apparent maker marks or stamps.

The condition is generally very good to near excellent, with signs of moderate to minor wear from routine use.

This is a superlative example of this helmet. It has very dark charcoal gray paint.

Here is an image of the inside. The liner is a marked size 59 and shell size 71. There is a Heister and Müller maker mark.  The skirt is stamped 4055 on the inside of the back and on the inside of the left side of the helmet with an ET 71 number, both strikes strong and easy to read.  These are views of the helmet from the front and back, showing the paint and suspension screws.

The decals are remarkably intact.  This is the tricolor and this is the luftwaffe eagle.

The chin strap is present and intact.

The condition is very good to near excellent throughout. There are minor to moderate wear spots on the paint and all along the rim present.

This is a superior example of this helmet. It has three color green, tan and brown camouflage paint.

Here is an image of the inside. The liner is not marked, it's about a size 57.  The skirt is stamped on back inside of the helmet with a maker mark and number, but aren't easily readable.  It is identified to the original owner with a name (it appears to be "Houfman" or "Houfmam" (both are Polish surnames) painted in large white letters under the back skirt.  These are views of the helmet from the front and back, showing the slightly worn paint.

The chin strap is present.

This is a superior example of this helmet. It has two color green and black camouflage paint.

The liner is a marked size 59.  The skirt is stamped on back inside of the helmet with a maker mark and number, both strikes are readable as "Q66" and "T4340".  It is identified to the original owner with a name (it appears to be "Estang" or "Esang" or similar)  These are views of the helmet from the front, showing the slightly worn paint.

There is a partial inner leather liner ,webbing, and ring. This fantastic display helmet was acquired from local 50 year militaria collection estate.

This is a nice example of this type of helmet. It has matte blue-black paint, with NO decals on the front or sides.

The liner is in fair to good condition, with a marked size 54 and luftschutz service factory markings on the inside of the skirt. It is 1938 dated with RL2-38/28 stamped marks.  The factory decal shows very little wear. These are views of the left and right sides, and back of the helmet.

The liner and straps are in very good to near excellent condition.  The leather liner is marked RAD 40, stamped in red ink.

This is a nice example of this type of helmet. It has matte blue-black paint, with the silver on black Luftschutz Wing decal on the front. There is some minor wear to the decals.

This is an unusual application of a standard WWI helmet. A socket was welded to the side of the helmet and a wooden handle was once installed. Pieces remain, as can be seen here on the side.

The right and left cockade roundels are both intact and present.

The condition is generally very good to near excellent, with very minor signs of exterior wear to the leather from routine use. The helmet liner shows some separations from age. There is some slight crazing on the leather, but hardly noticeable.

This has an Imperial German "FR" eagle device. The orb and cross part of the device is missing from the eagle's left claw. Note the FJ letters, who was King of Prussia for a brief period in 1888.

There is no maker mark on the inside of the liner. The liner is in rough condition.

This is a hard to find original spike helmet.

This has white and brown feathers attached to a rigid leather disk with a central hole for attachment to the spike of the General Officer pickelhaube visible at the top.

This is a a fairly hard to find set of chin scales.

The condition is very good to near excellent, with some very slight signs of damage to the leather on the back of the scale with the button, and light to moderate tarnish from age.

World War I WWI Spiked Helmet Pickelhaube Single German Officer Chin Scale

This is a a fairly hard to find single chin scale. It has damage to the leather and deep tarnish to the brass scales, however, it would be great for parting out to repair damaged scales or as a replacement for a missing strap. This is from the side without the buckle.

The condition is near good, with some signs of damage, and heavy tarnish from age, and significant wear to the gilt finish, as shown.
