German Bayonets and Edged Weapon Parts

The engraved blade measures 9-3/4 inches. It measures 16 inches overall.

The blade is etched with a combat scene of an MG08 machine gun crew, an antitank artillery crew, and a panzer tank. The scroll is Zur Erinnerung am Meine Dienstzeit [In remembrance of my wartime service]) The reverse side of the blade is plain and unmarked. The red felt insert and leather buffer are in near mint intact condition.

There is some minor wear to the paint on the scabbard. There is wear to the paint of the scabbard. The F. W. HÖLLER SOLINGEN maker marked blade is near mint throughout.

This bayonet has seen very light field service

The blade is maker marked with the sword impaled HHS logo and E&F HÖRSTER SOLINGEN name. It is numbered "L.G. 152" on the reverse side of the crossguard. Both sides of the blade are plain. The green felt insert and leather buffer are present. There are very robust staghorn scales, as shown. The blade, pommel, and grips are excellent to near mint throughout. The fittings are gilded brass.

The scabbard is serial numbered L.G. 152 at the throat.  The number matches the bayonet markings.

The frog is maker marked FRANZ BREHME WAHLSRODE and has the Kriegsmarine Eagle "M" stamp. It is in near excellent overall condition.

The blade is sterile and not maker marked. Both sides of the blade are plain. The leather buffer is present. There are fittings for mounting to a rifle. There is a police emblem on the staghorn scales, as shown. This is a view of the reverse side of the grip which are generally very good throughout.

The scabbard is in very good condition, with some minor wear to the black paint.

There is some routine wear to the finish on the F. W. HOLLER maker marked 1940 dated scabbard, mostly in the area where a frog held it during routine carry. The blade and bayonet proper is very good to near excellent throughout.

It is serial numbered "9459 O" on the other side. The proof mark is present on the top of the pommel partially hidden by the top strap. The tip of the drag of the scabbard is also marked. This is the grip in close-up front and rear.

This bayonet has seen virtually no service use, it appears unissued, with 98%+ of the original finish present on the blade and scabbard. The screws on the wood grips appear to have never been moved.

It is almost impossible to find one of these scabbards in any condition.  This is a nice example of the green leather covered Land Customs scabbard. There is some moderate tarnish to the metal parts, and some minor wear to the leather.

There is a "GES GESCHÜTZT" registration mark deeply stamped into the right ricasso. There is a deeply struck "PDL" and a raised round symbol (resembling a gear) on the other side of the tang. There is very minor signs of wear in the area of the ricasso. This blade was removed from a knife that saw some light service during the war. There is some very minor spotting.  The edges are factory ground and never appear to have been sharpened.

There is no maker mark. There are routine signs of wear throughout.  The there are significant dents at the front and rear from when it got pinched.  The dents do not impair proper function.

There is an Eickhorn Solingen maker mark and GES. GESCH. with national eagle emblem deeply etched into the ricasso on one side and a serial number "8809" more lightly etched on the reverse. There are moderate signs of wear and some rusting apparent in the images.  The guard had the eagle "de-nazified" by removing the swastika.  The end of the tang is pinned with the original pin.  The original leather buffer is present.

The blade has never been sharpened outside of the factory, it retains all of its original contours.  The point is in very good condition.  There are some slight dings on the upper flat surface from when it was used to pound something when it was intact as a dagger.

This fairly scarce blade is in good to near very good used condition overall.
