This is a two-page 19 August 1933 dated document in Hitler's handwriting and signed by him.

This is a rarely encountered document written on plain paper in medium blue quill ink.  It is hand signed by Adolf Hitler with the quill pen signed signature as well as the complete text having very distinct crossovers.

The text of the document regards Hitler's claim to being Der Führer and Reichskanzler of the German People and specifically references the SA and SS several times in the body of the text.  This is a VERY early reference to the SS.

The document appears to be the text of highpoints of a political speech given to members of the SA and SS at Bad Godesberg on 19 August 1933.  The irony of the date is that it was one year to the day before the assassination of Ernst Röhm during the Night of the Long Knives on 19 August 1934.

Berlin, July 12

Most Honorable Reichspresident

Following the recording of the new agreement of the German Evangelical Church yesterday, the negotiations concerning the settlement if the Prussian church conflict have been concluded in a satisfactory manner for both state and church. The inner freedom of the church, which is also especially close to my heart, is assured without doubt through the withdrawal of the commissaries and the commissaries of the state.

The internal rebuilding of the church will, according to church law through free elections by the evangelical church members, be nearing completion. I am happy to tell Your Excellency that one can now feel assured that your and also my and other participants wish for appeasement of the evangelical church life will soon be fulfilled.

With admiring devotion

Reichschancellor

Af. Hitler.

The text of the document regards the relationship of the German Evangelical Church and the New German State, the content for use in a radio address to the German people the evening before the Evangelical Church Election. The text below is a rough paraphase of the content.

July 22

National Socialism has always affirmed that it is determined to take the Christian Churches under the protection of the State.

The decisive factor which can justify the existence alike of Church and State is the maintenance of men's spiritual and bodily health, for it that health were destroyed it would mean the end of the State and also the end of the Church.

It is my sincere hope that thereby for Germany, too, through free agreement there has been produced a final clarification of spheres in the functions of the State and of one Church.

Reichschancellor

Af. Hitler.
