This is a premium quality album with carved wooden covers and approximately 200 heavyweight pages separated by spider web onion skin sheets.
It measures 11 by 13-1/2 inches and it is a full 3-3/4 inches thick, seen here. There is a deep embossed Morocco red leather binder cover securing the one-piece wooden board covers. The front cover is carved to present the name of the detachment in high relief. The workmanship is consistent with carving from KZ lager prison labor. There is some minor wear to the lettering.
There is a significant defect in that the front board has been split completely in two pieces. Both pieces are present and there is no significant loss of material, it just broke on the grain. It should be able to be restored to virtually perfect with a seamless repair by a competent craftsman. The cover is shown with the pieces mated (click the thumbnail below) and with the cover spread apart to show the split. Some of the letter The back cover is not carved and it is intact. There is some minor to moderate wear on the red leather binder cover. All the internal pages and onion skins appear to be present and not damaged.
This album never had photographs mounted in it, the pages are devoid of any mounting tabs or glue or paste residue.
It is being offered at a very reasonable price because of the condition of the cover.
Offered at $849.99
